Una amplia mirada sobre el proceso de expansión y cambio del Islam actual

Concluido el mito del "fatalismo árabe", se hacía necesario considerar el variado y complejo mundo islámico actual desde una perspectiva análoga a la que utilizamos al estudiar otras sociedades, es decir, teniendo en cuenta los factores económicos, sociales, políticos e ideológicos que explican ese mundo histórico. Éste es el punto de partida del presente curso, pues, como escribió Goldziher, "es imposible negar a priori a la vida social y religiosa del Islam un proceso de continua evolución".
