Introducing safety culture and its application to the nuclear field.

These MOOCs (Massive Open Online Courses) are part of the courses offered and funded within ANNETTE project, led by ENEN (European Nuclear Education Network), and funded by Euratom, a complementary research and training programme for nuclear research and training within Horizon 2020 European Research Projects.

These courses are conceived as a first contact with the safety culture in all areas to continue, then, deepening in more specific concepts in the nuclear field. In order to establish a good safety culture and nuclear safety culture, aligned leadership is necessary. All these aspects will be worked in a dynamic, different and participative way, in which collaborative learning will be a key aspect.

Inscripción

The satisfactory completion of each NOOC leads to a free badge and/or the payment of a credential. In addition, it is possible to obtain an academic certificate of 1 ECTS, issued by UNED, when successfully completing the three NOOCs. Instructions on how to proceed for the certificate will be given to the course participants at the end of the courses.

Dirigido a
Professionals from the nuclear sector, but as well towards professionals from other industries (especially high-risk industries), as well as bachelor and master students of nuclear and other technical studies, to gather a varied audience to enhance global networking and a collaborative learning experience.
Titulación requerida

No specific requirements are needed, although a technical background is recommended.

Objetivos
  1. Identify the main features of the safety culture
  2. Analyze the risks associated with jobs and situations
  3. Apply the lessons learned from the case study on safety
  4. Know the main models of safety culture
  5. Evaluate the importance of organizational culture in safety
  6. Observe the evolution of the safety
  7. List the differentiating characteristics of nuclear energy
  8. Describe the type of safety analysis that serves as a basis for safety requirements and their limitations
  9. Know the concept of defense in depth
  10. Explain how your work affects safety in all levels.
  11. Know the main theories of leadership and how they have evolved until today
  12. Acquire the skills to maintain effective leadership in emergency situations
  13. Apply those leadership skills for the development of teams or partners
Metodología
These MOOCs are conceived as a first contact with the safety culture in all areas to continue, then, deepening in more specific concepts in the nuclear field. In order to establish a good safety culture and nuclear safety culture, aligned leadership is necessary. All these aspects will be worked in a dynamic, different and participative way, in which collaborative learning will be a key aspect. The goal of the MOOCs is to ensure that students, industry workers and any person interested, know and transmit the safety culture and its importance.
At the end of the MOOCs, the participants will be able to understand and explain the aspects related to human behavior and its management to achieve a strong safety culture. These general concepts will be focused to the nuclear industry and its differentiating characteristics.

MOOCs Structure
The MOOCs structure includes three independent NOOCs (Nano Open Online Courses).
    • NOOC I. What is Safety Culture? 10h.
    • NOOC II. Understanding Nuclear Safety Culture. 10h
    • NOOC III. Developing leadership for safety. 5h

In this context we offer in the 3 NOOCs a very extensive glossary of nuclear terms in order to guide those with little or no knowledge on the subject for the complete understanding of all the contents, specially for NOOC II.
Sistema de evaluación
Advanced open online learning communities based on multimedia content, engaging activities, automatized tests and online interaction in an international environment. Courses are delivered on the platform OPEN UNED.
